PRINCE GEORGE – Prince George’s own Scott Cousins announced on his social media that he has signed with the Kelowna Rockets of the Western Hockey League (WHL).

After not being drafted in the WHL Draft, Cousins put himself front and centre in the U16 ranks during the 2019-2020 Minor Midget season.

In 28 games, the then 16-year-old registered 28 goals and 29 assists. He also played two games with the U18 squad, tallying a goal. He’d later be named BC U16AAA (Minor Midget) Player of the Year and become one of the Kelowna Rockets’ top prospects.

Head Coach Ryan Howse spoke fondly of his star player during the season, which the Cariboo Cougars finished with a 26-5-1 record.

“He sees the ice well. He is a learner,” said Head Coach Ryan Howse to CKPG back in February of 2020.

“That’s what it takes to be a good hockey player. That learning ability. He has it down. He listens. He goes through his tough times too. It’s not just sunshine, but he does a great job of fighting through the adversity.”
