449 new cases of COVID-19 in B.C., 37 in Northern Health

VICTORIA — British Columbia’s provincial government announced 449 new cases of COVID-19 in B.C. today, 37 in Northern Health.

Here’s the regional breakdown:

  • Vancouver Coastal Health: 93
  • Fraser Health: 242
  • Island Health: 19
  • Interior Health: 58
  • Northern Health: 37

Since the pandemic began, 72,305 people have contracted the virus in B.C., 66,603 of those have recovered.

“There are 4,317 active cases of COVID-19 in the province. There are 224 individuals currently hospitalized with COVID-19, 63 of whom are in intensive care. The remaining people are recovering at home in self-isolation,” say Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and B.C. Health Minister Adrian Dix.

To date, they say 159,887 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in B.C., 15,684 of which are second doses.

Sadly there have been nine new COVID-19 related deaths for a total of 1,278 in B.C.
