PRINCE GEORGE – You know what they say about the cat, and how he came back.. well this time it was a dog, who magically returned.

Havok is a three year-old Australian Shepherd who lives near Haldi Lake right on the edge of Prince George city limits, and on the edge of the forest.

Kristy Whitehurst and her fiancé Wil let their dogs out on their rural property on a day in early February and the other four pups Havok lives with came home, but Havok was nowhere to be found.

Whitehurst and her fiancé searched for days, and kilometres, but to no avail.

“It was awful, I didn’t really sleep for five days,” says Whitehurst.

Hundreds of people in Prince George shared a facebook post, in hopes that Kristy and Wil’s four legged friend would be found.

And he did.

Five days later, the family was out in the yard playing, and Havok magically reappeared, just in time for the BC Family Day long weekend.

“I have no idea where he was, it’s a little mysterious, but I guess we’ll never know,” says Whitehurst.

Whitehurst says it was like a miracle and caught the entire family completely off guard.

Initially, the Australian Shepherd appeared to be fine, only caked with snowballs stuck to the dog’s fur.

Upon further inspection, the dog had been attacked by wildlife of some kind, puncture wounds were left behind severe enough to need a veterinarian.

Over $1,500 later, Havok was back to being a happy dog, and a family unsure if they would ever see their prize pup again, was reunited.

Whitehurst and her fiancé want to thank all of those who helped along the way getting the word out there.
