Sadly, 26 new deaths province-wide for a total of 1,314.

Henry also announced that 60 COVID variants have now been confirmed in B.C. Forty of those are the UK variant, 19 the South Africa variant and one variant from Nigeria.

A total of 171,755 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in B.C. This includes 22,914 people who have received the second dose.

Henry says we need to remain vigilant in following provincial health orders as the seven day rolling average of positivity rate has been ticking up, particularly in the Fraser Health region.

She says B.C. is also looking forward to a ramp up in the number of vaccine deliveries.

In light of the latest COVID-19 numbers, the Province of British Columbia has formally extended the provincial state of emergency, allowing health and emergency management officials to continue to use extraordinary powers under the Emergency Program Act (EPA) to support the Province’s COVID-19 pandemic response.

The state of emergency is extended through the end of the day on March 2, 2021, to allow staff to take the necessary actions to keep British Columbians safe and manage immediate concerns and COVID-19 outbreaks.
