.

PRINCE GEORGE – Each day hundreds of rail cars travel along the Northern BC rail corridor.

Along the way are several communities and some residents that are concerned with the increased rail traffic and the hazardous cargo on some of the trains.

Dawn Remington lives in Smither BC and she is most concerned with the amount of petroleum-filled cars.

She says there is a fear those tank cars carrying propane could possibly leak while parked overnight in the rail yard.

NDP MP, Skeena – Bulkley Valley Taylor Bachrach is familiar with the safety concerns and is looking into ways to improve rail car safety.

Remington would like to see a Risk Assessment conducted along the corridor prior to any further increase in hazardous rail traffic and residents have a better understanding of the cargo passing through their communities.
