Nextdoor App Helping to Fight Crime in PG

PRINCE GEORGE – A new app is starting to gain some momentum around Prince George.

The `Nextdoor` app is being used as a communication chain between neighborhoods as a way to fight crime.

Those with the app can report suspicious activities within their neighborhood, in turn reducing the likelihood of crime.

The app was introduced to Canada just over a year ago.

According to Linda Parker with RCMP Community Policing, says close to three percent of Prince George homes use it.

RCMP encourages residents to call 911 if there is a safety concern or a crime in progress.

The app is free to use once the participant verifies their home address.
