One person dead following avalanche southwest of Chetwynd

CHETWYND — One person is dead following an avalanche southwest of Chetwynd over the weekend.

RCMP say it happened Saturday afternoon while a group of snowmobilers were in the area.

Due to poor weather conditions search crews were unable to recover the body of a 27-year-old man until the following day.

The BC Coroners Service is now investigating and the man’s name has not been released.
