Parsnip Lodge camp workers ratify union contract

MCLEOD LAKE — Unionized workers at Parsnip Lodge, a Coastal GasLink camp site located near McLeod Lake, have ratified a two-year union contract with Horizon North.

The workers are represented by Unite Here Local 40. The union says Parsnip Lodge is also the first unionized camp on the Coastal GasLink pipeline.

The union says the agreement covers frontline workers who cook, clean, sanitize, and maintain the Coastal GasLink pipeline camp.

The agreement includes wage increases of 47 per cent over the next two years, 100 per cent employer-paid health care benefits, and a travel stipend.

It means most employees will receive between $5 to $7 immediate wage increases.
