QUESNEL — Mounties in Quesnel are seeking the public’s help in locating the driver of a red SUV who appeared to be calling two teenagers to his vehicle with hand gestures near a school on Maple Drive.

Quesnel RCMP Sgt. Richard Weseen says the incident occurred Friday (Mar.5) at around 1:30 p.m. in the 1800 block of Maple Drive.

“The male stopped the SUV and made hand gestures that appeared as though he wanted the girls to enter the back seat of his vehicle. The girls ran to a nearby school and called for help. The SUV was observed circling the block and then departed. One of the girls obtained a photo of the vehicle as it drove by,” he says.

The driver of the SUV was described as a man with a light complexion in his late forties, or early fifties. He was bald and was wearing a black hat.

“The girls did the right thing during this incident. They were quick to react by running away to a safe location, called for help, and provided a good description of the man and his vehicle,” says Weseen.

“It is unknown at this time what the man’s intention was. We urge the driver of the SUV to come forward and speak to the investigators.
