New leaseholder sees potential in PG Dome
PRINCE GEORGE – Now that the Prince George Dome has secured itself with a three-year leaseholder in Jordan Yu, the next big step is to improve the ageing facility and bring back all of its user groups.
Years of rumours and worry directed at the structure standing since 1952, the Duchess Park basketball coach is doing whatever it takes to make the Dome the permanent home for many of the city’s sports organizations, arts, and recreation programs.
“It wasn’t an easy decision to make obviously with COVID,” stated Yu. “It was more to buy us three more years for (Northern Bounce Basketball Academy) to run our programs. But also, we see so much potential and we see how much this space means to so many people. That was one of the biggest things.”
