CNC looking for artists to help revitalize campus entrance

Mar 12, 2021 | 3:59 PM

PRINCE GEORGE – Right now it doesn’t look like much, but it’s a whole wall of opportunity.

The College of New Caledonia is looking for artists to fill up the blank wall, with a preference for Indigenous artists.

The wall is on the Prince George campus, but those on the committee in charge of the art installation say they hope to encompass all campuses and Indigenous nations within the region.

The installation replaces a display that was more than 20 years old and at the end of its operational life.

The new exhibit offers an exciting opportunity to develop a lasting art installation that supports reconciliation, celebrates diversity, and provides a strong welcome.

CNC will consider designs and choose an artistic team to:

  • Create a positive first impression for new visitors, and reinforce that impression to returning students, employees, and visitors;
  • Develop a project that aligns with CNC’s mandate and strategic priorities, including initiatives that support meaningful reconciliation. The exhibit would recognize the territory of the Lheidli T’enneh First Nation and the 22 First Nations and Indigenous groups in the region CNC serves; and
  • Recognize the diversity of the CNC community.
