PRINCE GEORGE – During the evening of March 11, 2021, a Prince George RCMP officer noticed a vehicle that matched the description of a vehicle reported stolen less than three hours prior.

Police received a report of a stolen Nissan Pathfinder. The owner informed RCMP they left the vehicle running with the keys in the car and entered their residence just long enough to get a jacket.

During the time they were gone, someone entered the running vehicle and stole it. A short time later, while on patrol in the VLA area, a police officer observed the Pathfinder as it pulled out of a driveway.

The member followed the stolen vehicle until it stopped at a business on the 1700 block of Strathcona Avenue.

The police officer activated his police lights, exited his vehicle, and advised the driver and passenger that they were under arrest for possession of the stolen property.

Police identified the driver as 40-year-old Gordon Laliberte and the passenger as 37-year-old Virginia Denning.

Police are familiar with both Mr. Laliberte and Ms. Denning. Members transported the pair to the police detachment on 4th Avenue and Victoria Street until they could attend court.

The B.C. Prosecution Service has approved charges of Possession of stolen property against Mr. Laliberte and Ms. Denning.

The B.C. Prosecution Service also approved one charge of Prohibited driving against Mr. Laliberte.

The pair are back in the community on a release order until their next court appearance at the end of March.
