498 new cases of COVID-19 in B.C., 36 in the Northern Health region

VICTORIA — Four-hundred and ninety-eight new cases of COVID-19 in British Columbia announced today, 36 in the Northern Health region.

Here’s the regional breakdown:

  • Vancouver Coastal Health: 128
  • Fraser Health: 291
  • Island Health: 12
  • Interior Health: 31
  • Northern Health: 36

“There are 4,851 active cases of COVID-19 in the province, with 9,472 people under active public health monitoring as a result of identified exposure to known cases. A further 83,083 people who tested positive have recovered,” reads a joint statement from Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and B.C. Health Minister Adrian Dix.

“Of the active cases, 281 individuals are currently hospitalized with COVID-19, 83 of whom are in intensive care. The remaining people with COVID-19 are recovering at home in self-isolation.

Due to a lab sequencing issue, the Province says no new variant of concern data is available today.

Sadly four new deaths bringing BC’s death toll to 1,411.

To date, 444,140 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in BC.

Since the pandemic began, 89,427 people have come down with the virus, of those people, 83,083 have recovered.
