Maskless group at Dawson Creek grocery store leads to arrest for assault

DAWSON CREEK — A 49-year-old man in Dawson Creek was arrested for assault after allegedly punching a grocery store employee in the face.

Dawson Creek RCMP said they attended Dave’s No Frills grocery store after a group entered without faces masks on – breaking the Provincial Health Order – and created a disturbance.

Police said an employee followed the group the group to the parking lot to collect license plates for a police report. An altercation between the group member and the employee led to the alleged punch. The employee received minor injuries that didn’t need medical treatment.

Kevin Johnston has been charged with one count of assault. He was released from custody on March 26 with a variety of conditions.
