PRINCE GEORGE – Many parents may be wondering what will happen when their kids head back to class on Tuesday. And School District 57 has its position.

“As of today, we will follow the direction of the Provincial Health Officer as well as the Ministry of Education. So, yesterday, it was announced that students from Grades Four and up will be supported and encouraged to wear masks. What that means for us is that for us in School District 57 is when students return to class April 6th, students will be expected to wear masks at all times unless they’re eating or drinking.”

However, the Prince George District Teachers Association still has some questions.

“What about the Grade Three-Four classroom? What happens there? We’re not quite sure,” asks Joanne Hapke, President of the Association.

Unlike many BC school district, District 57 is one of the few that takes a two-week spring break and that gives Cindy Heitman some breathing room.

“Between now and when students return on April 6th, we’ll continue to seek clarity and additional information from the Ministry of Education. There are lots of questions around what that’s going to look like.”

For instance, the language coming from the ministry and Dr. Bonnie Henry differs.
