PRINCE GEORGE – It won’t be too long now for a Prince George family set to receive a home done free of charge as part of the ‘Welcome Home, Pay-it-Foward Initiative’.

Work is nearing completion on Carney Street, with the build centered around affordability, a one-floor, modern energy-efficient home.

“I’ve had the opportunity to meet them a couple of times, and they are so thankful for this opportunity,” says Caleb Wilson, Fundraising Committee Member for the project.

The family found out they were going to be getting the home in 2018, now with an end in sight, the excitement is starting to build.

The list of the local companies involved is a lengthy one, Ridgeline Roofing, P.R.D. Construction, and Primus Electric to name a few, but the involvement goes far beyond that.

Dozens of local businesses pitched-in, in various ways.

“Being a part of this initiative is just awesome, seeing how the community truly came together to make this happen,” says Wilson

The trades workers, but also the business community have come together to make sure that all the paperwork had been completed and the structure was ready for residents.

The group behind the project says it won’t be long until the family can move into the dwelling, and didn’t rule out the idea of doing this once again.

The group only has $15,000 left to fundraise and they’re doing it by auctioning off items through Facebook.
