HORSEFLY, B.C. — The body of a snowmobiler has been recovered after the man was killed in an avalanche east of Horsefly this week.
The slide came down on Eureka Peak on Monday (Mar. 29), killing a 37-year-old man. However, South Cariboo Search and Rescue volunteers were not immediately able to recover his body due to the treacherous terrain and snow conditions.
In a news release, Williams Lake RCMP say volunteers have now recovered the man’s body and the investigation is under the auspices of the B.C. Coroners Service.
The victim of the slide was identified in the Williams Lake Tribune as Ben Morhart, a captain with the Horsefly Volunteer Fire Department.
