Well known butcher retires

PRINCE GEORGE – One of Prince George’s more well-known citizens is leaving town. Many of you know Ben Klassen from promoting Homesteader Meats on the radio, while others know him from their trips to the butcher shop.

Klassen entered the meat cutting business when he was 17 years old in 1955.

Years later, he is taking a step back, retiring and heading to Vancouver Island to be closer to family.

Klassen, who is in his eighties, says the key to his success was his long-time staff. Tom Sentes is new to the meat cutting business.

However, he’s excited to take over a shop with experienced staff and strong community support.
