FORT ST. JOHN – The Maverick Party has announced a candidate for the riding of Prince George- Peace River – Northern Rockies.

Dave Jeffers, a longtime resident of the Peace region has announced he will be running to try and earn the seat Conservative M.P. Bob Zimmer currently holds.

Jeffers says that Northeast B.C. has everything to offer, but the current federal government and the current M.P. are letting the potential for a prosperous economy slip away.

The Maverick Party was formerly known as the WEXIT Party which had values tied to the separatist movement in Western Canada.

Jeffers says the separatist movement is not something he is overwhelmingly in favour of the movement, only saying the economy in the west was built to succeed, something he wants to see.

Jeffers criticized the recent budget announced federally saying that there is potential for large damage for Canadians down the road who will have to “pay out of their pockets.”
