Timberwolves share coffee with Jon Cooper at first-ever virtual Legacy Breakfast

May 5, 2021 | 6:10 PM

PRINCE GEORGE – Wednesday morning, coffees were brewed, pancakes were flipped, and bacon was sizzled as the 7th Annual Timberwolves Legacy Breakfast got underway for the first time in a virtual format.

The event is the biggest fundraiser for the UNBC Timberwolves, with all proceeds going directly to scholarships and bursaries.

This year’s keynote speaker was Stanley Cup-winning coach Jon Cooper, who was born and raised here in Prince George and shared his story of inspiration, what goes into winning, and how Prince George moulded him into the man he is today.

“To have success you need to have a team. It’s not about getting the best players – it helps to have really good players – it’s about your synergy,” explained Cooper in his remarks during the breakfast. “It’s synergy on your coaching staff, it’s synergy on your room, it’s guys who have each other’s back. You give me a bunch of guys who are going to work their tails off and go through a wall for their teammates and I’ll give you a team that’s going to go far.”

The silent auction typically associated with the event is live online until May 14, 2021.
