PRINCE GEORGE — Police are currently investigating a series of suspicious grass fires. The first two small fires took place the evening of April 23 in the ditch near Cranbrook Hill Road and Otway Road at 11:30 p.m.

A witness reported seeing a maroon coloured truck nearby though police were unable to locate it.

The second incident occurred at 1 a.m. on April 27 at Moore’s Meadow with two fires burning. Witnesses also reported seeing a 2017 or newer maroon pickup truck in the area.

About an hour and a half later a third fire was located on Kelly Road North near Ferguson Lake Road.

“The fires were all started far enough off the road way to not be caused by an accidental spark, and investigators did not find evidence of any cigarette butts in the dry grass to suggest the fires were caused by discarded cigarettes. Witnesses describe a maroon coloured truck at the locations two of the fires were started. Police would like to speak with anyone who might have information about this truck or the registered owner,” says Cst. Jennifer Cooper of the Prince George RCMP.”
