Drug bust on Pioneer Avenue

PRINCE GEORGE — Eight people were taken into police custody following a drug bust on Pioneer Avenue last week.

On April 28, Prince George RCMP executed a search warrant on a house on the 100 block of Pioneer.

Cst. Jennifer Cooper says police are familiar with both the house and its occupants, whom they know to be violent. She says this house was the subject of a previous police action earlier this year.

With help from the RCMP’s Street Crew Unit and Police Dog Services, officers began executing the warrant shortly before 9 p.m.

“The eight people in the residence cooperated with police requests to exit the house. Police took all eight subjects into custody; they held two on outstanding arrest warrants and released the remaining six from custody pending an outcome of the investigation,” says Cooper.

She says police seized drug trafficking equipment as well as suspected methamphetamine, suspected fentanyl and illicit prescription drugs.

Police say it appears the fentanyl is consistent with what police are seeing in the downtown core.
