Spruce Kings shut out Centennials 3-0, get set for season finale
CHILLIWACK — Jordan Fairlie only needed to make 15 saves, but the Prince George Spruce Kings once again shut out the Merritt Centennials, this time 3-0 Friday (May 7) evening.
In the shortened, 20-game British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) Pod season, the Spruce Kings shut out the Centennials five times. In total, the Spruce Kings took the season series 9-1.
With one game remaining, Prince George has a 13-5-0-1 record, good for 27 points in 19 games and first place in the BCHL Chilliwack Pod. The second place Chilliwack Chiefs trail by three points but have a game in hand.
If the Chiefs lose their Saturday (May 8) game against the Merritt Centennials in regulation, the Spruce Kings will finish first in the Chilliwack Pod. If the Chiefs win, then first place will be decided Sunday (May 9) when Prince George and Chilliwack play their final games of the season against each other.
