POUCE COUPE — An investigation has been launched following a suspicious death in the Peace region.

North District RCMP Cpl. Madonna Saunderson says the BC RCMP North District Major Crime Unit (ND MCU) was called in to assist the Dawson Creek RCMP following the discovery of a body on Sunday morning (May 9) at around 9 a.m. near Highway 2 and Clark Road in Pouce Coupe.

“This matter is being treated as a suspicious death and the BC RCMP ND MCU has been deployed and has now taken conduct of the investigation,” she says.

She says the RCMP is also investigating a vehicle fire, which occurred the same morning just after 5 a.m. on 198 Road in Pouce Coupe about eight kilometres from where the body was discovered.

“While it is certainly too early to link the vehicle fire with the person’s death, we are aware of the potential link and seeking additional information to timeline the location of the vehicle leading up to the fire being reported,” says Saunderson.

If you saw or knew the whereabouts of a 2002 white Pontiac Grand Am in the Pouce Coupe area between Saturday May 8 at 5 p.m. and Sunday May 9 at 5:15 a.m., you are asked to call police.
