Flights set to return to Quesnel for first time in over 13 months

QUESNEL – The last time a commercial flight landed at the Quesnel Regional Airport a vaccine for COVID-19 was still a dream, back on April 9th, 2020.

Now over 13 months later, Central Mountain Air will bring service back to the community with the first plane set to touch down on June 28th.

A month ago, there was still an uneasy feeling about the space from Mayor Bob Simpson, who said the silver lining was the takeaways from having to pivot.

The biggest takeaway he mentioned in April was the fact the city had to make the Quesnel Airport a business.

Now with the return of commercial flights in June, there is even more reason to be optimistic.

“This announcement is excellent news for the community,” says Quesnel Mayor Bob Simpson. “The Quesnel Regional Airport is a vital link for our community and plays a critical role in attracting investment and facilitating economic growth in the region. Commercial air service is key to ensuring the long-term sustainability of regional airports and we are pleased that Central Mountain Air is planning to resume services in Quesnel.”

Central Mountain Air said they are excited to serve Quesnel once again and look forward to being ready as demand rises in the months ahead.

This connection will see 5 flights from Quesnel to Vancouver each week, and 5 flights from Vancouver to Quesnel each week.
