Pandemic Friendly Entertainment becomes part of COVID-19 history

PRINCE GEORGE – If you haven’t attended one of Dave Horton’s pandemic-friendly events, odds are you probably know someone who has here in the city.

In his own words, “bored man entertains himself, and others.”

Horton made a big name for himself early on in the pandemic, putting on drive-in trivia, and other activities when everything else was completely shut down.

Since then the FM Transmitter, and microphone that he uses for events has caught the eyes of many, who requested his services for weddings, church, funerals, and other gatherings.

The list of all the events Horton did over the course of the last 14 months is a lengthy one, too many to even count.

His work over the pandemic with his equipment also caught the eyes of Tracy Calogheros at Exploration Place, as his equipment has now been donated to be a part of COVID-19 history.

You may have also noticed the many different hats Horton has sported for interviews with CKPG News, something that quickly became his schtick.

Now even those are part of the exhibit on COVID-19 too, and you can have your items taken into the archives too by contacting the Exploration Place.

Horton says he has been humbled by the community support, and does not take credit for what has come from the many events which ultimately led him to be local celebrity.

“I had some ideas, but ideas aren’t cheap and to make an idea happen it’s costly. I didn’t pay $60,000 in candy, the community paid $60,000 in candy. I spent a lot of my time on it, but I didn’t hand out a single bag during the candy cruise, that was volunteers. So as long as my name gets said, people remember a community gathering, that is very honouring and very humbling,” says Horton.
