VICTORIA — The number of COVID-19 cases continues to decline in British Columbia.

Over the weekend, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry says there were 1,360 new cases. Here’s the regional breakdown:

  • Vancouver Coastal Health: 291
  • Fraser Health: 861
  • Island Health: 36
  • Interior Health: 126
  • Northern Health: 47

Henry says there are 5,021 active cases of the virus, with 350 people in hospital, 132 of whom are in critical or intensive care.

Sadly, 14 more deaths bringing B.C.’s death toll to 1,648. A total of 2,538,328 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered, of those, 130,023 are second doses.

Henry says just over 55 per cent of eligible adults have now received their first COVID-19 dose.

Despite the increased vaccinations, she says the Province is not yet ready to make any changes to the provincial health orders this week, noting it is important this week to stay the course.
