Vandals strike in the central Fraser-Fort George area

PRINCE GEORGE – Residents in the central Fort-George area woke up to their cars and homes being vandalized overnight. Residents say they’ve had enough and want RCMP to ramp up patrols in the area.

Freddie Garcia, one of the victims, had a rude awakening Monday morning, when one of his friends called to ask him what happened to his vehicle.

Garcia wasn’t the only one to be hit on Gillett and 10th, in fact, several different blocks were hit in the area, including houses on Ewert, Douglas, Gillett, and Harper.

People on social media shared pictures of their vehicles including Fenna Nellen, whose neighbor woke her up at 7 a.m. to tell her what happened.

CKPG spoke with other neighbors in the area, who didn’t want to appear on camera. One resident said they have lived in that area since 1983 and says things have become worse over the years.

Because it rained overnight, the paint wasn’t able to set properly, so some folks like Fenna were able to clean it off without damage. However, Garcia had to take his vehicle to a body shop for repairs, which he now has to claim through his insurance.

The Prince George RCMP were contacted and are asking people for their help in finding the culprits.
