PRINCE GEORGE–The Hart Ski Hill Club’s facility is now going to be used year-round. After months of pushing for community support and donations, the city is going to get its first ever 18-hole disc golf course soon.

Unlike the 9-hole course over in Rainbow Park, this one will be more challenging.

“It will be a little more challenging than the rainbow park golf course which was geared towards families and newer players but this one will be challenging because of the elevation gain and the longer drives you’ll have to do.” said John bowes

Bowes pushed to get this disc golf course installed. He said that the Hart Ski Club was the perfect location to build the course.

“Fortunately our schedules line up perfectly, as soon as the snow starts to fall, we’re not gonna be on here anymore and as soon it starts to melt they don’t wanna be here anymore. It really makes sense to use a ski hill facility.” said Bowes.

Bowes says that this is only the first step. The facility plans to add disc golf nights, tournaments, and instructional courses for players There’s no cost to using the disc golf course and they hope to have everything ready by early June.

“We’re finalizing the actual layout of the course and we’re gonna put in tee boxes and signage to make sure everybody is comfortable with the course and able to find the holes pretty easily. So the goal is to do over the next couple of weeks get it all installed ready to go” said Bowes.

He says the disc society is also looking into renting out school fields to bring younger players into the sport. He also hopes that this new course will become part of a multi-city tour.

“There’s talk of kinda of a northern tour where people will use this facility, terrace and smithers has one as well.”
