Northern Sport spring schedule in full swing

PRINCE GEORGE – Pickleball has been a hot topic amongst the Northern Sport Centre community, as they hosted their second pickleball Tuesday in their newly released spring schedule.

For Northern Sport, it has been a tough year for them, as they have been unable to host many of their usual sport, fitness and recreational activities. Currently, all they are able to offer are pickleball, squash and badminton, due to the current restrictions in place associated with the COVID-19 pandemic.

Northern Sport has seen a decrease in the number of people utilizing their facility, however they haven’t seen a decrease in participation for their various activities, which is one of the many things, Manager Craig Langille, has looked at in a positive light.

Despite COVID-19 having many negative impacts on the facility, the Centre and its manager have chosen to utilize the positives to adapt and grow, especially with the BC Summer Games set to arrive in Prince George next summer.

“So I think for us, we’re actually going to be able to utilize our facility the best as possible going forward and Covid has positively impacted us in that way.”

With the promise of the Summer Games upcoming and Northern Sport set to be a host facility, Northern Sport will just continue to prepare and hope for more openings, pending COVID-19 provincial restrictions.
