Roadside work can be a dangerous job

Almost daily, people who work near traffic continue to watch over their shoulders and in the back of their minds have an escape route planned to avoid being hit.

Between 2011 and 2020, 12 roadside workers were killed, and 207 were injured in BC. In 2020 23 workers were injured because of being struck by a vehicle.
The annual Cone Zone campaign reminds drivers to slow down when they see cones on the roadway and pay attention to traffic control persons’ instructions and signage.
According to the RCMP, base fines within a roadside construction zone can increase, starting at $196 dollars.
