PRINCE GEORGE – Masich Place Stadium, like the rest of the world, has gone through their own difficulties throughout this pandemic. Thanks to the community of Prince George and its organizations that lie within however, Masich has never seen such great results.

For Masich, the facility has been unable to host its normal array of events, games and meets. What it has been able to offer however has been received better then what the City could have ever imagined.

“The facility has never see busier use, with numbers being higher than ever,” says Robyn McConkey, Parks and Recreation Services Coordinator with the City of Prince George.

For Masich, Tuesday marked an exciting time for the facility as the BC government released their new provincial update. In the update, effective Tuesday, there would be a resumption to outdoor sports (games) with no spectators, as well as low-intensity fitness with safety protocols.

The City hopes to get back to normal as soon as possible as they continue to prepare for next year’s BC Summer Games, which will occur in Prince George with Masich Place set to host.

With the Summer Games on the horizon and lots to be done Renee McCloskey, President of the Board of Directors, hosts her first board meeting Tuesday night.

For the entire community of Prince George, McCloskey says she is pumped for the games as she knows the opportunities that arise because of major events like these and their economic impact on the community.
