PRINCE GEORGE – As Alexa Gilker taps away on her keyboard, an idea turns into reality.

As the screenwriter for ‘The Way to the Heart’, that’s exactly what happened.

Former Prince George Film Commissioner Sara Shaak phoned Gilker with an idea in February, and three months later, that idea is about to be acted out in reality here in Prince George.

“Film sets can sometimes feel like high school, and this has been the high school from TV that you know I wanted to live in,” says Gilker. “Everyone’s just really supportive, really sweet, and really collaborative, and I think the team here is going to continue to make some amazing projects together.”

Gilker has a unique Prince George connection as well, her husband’s family has a long history in Prince George.

It’s a name that may sound familiar to you, the Enemark family.

The family has such a long history in the city, there’s even a street named after them.

The experience of filming in a location with so much family history has made Gilker’s time here so far something she’s going to remember for a long time.
