PRINCE GEORGE – The Prince George Spruce Kings made a trio of trades Tuesday evening, acquiring forward Austin Fraser, defenceman Brody Gagno, and forward Ty Gagno.

First, the Spruce Kings traded forward Austin Spiridakis to the Nanaimo Clippers in exchange for Jaeger Murdock.

Prince George then packaged Murdock, forward Carter Cochrane, and the BC Hockey League rights of goalie Jesse Makaj to the Coquitlam Express in exchange for Austin Fraser and forward Andrej Kovacevic.

Fraser, from West Vancouver, finished the 2021 pod season with four goals and six assists with the Express in 20 games played.

“Austin is a player who plays the game hard and plays the right way. His work ethic and compete level will allow him to fit in well with our team,” said Spruce Kings General Manager Mike Hawes.

Lastly, the Spruce Kings then flipped the rights of Kovacevic and future considerations to the Chilliwack Chiefs in exchange for Brody and Ty Gagno.

Brody, from South Surrey, has been a member of the Chiefs for the past two seasons. The Quinnipiac University commit has 106 games of BCHL experience and also has 14 points in those games. He also served the ’19-20 season as an assistant captain for the Chiefs.

Brody’s younger brother Ty has just played one game in the BCHL with the Chiefs. The forward from Langley spent the 2019-20 season with the Burnaby Winter Club of the Canadian Sports School Hockey League, where Gagno had five goals and 12 assists in just 23 games played.
