Jun 1, 2021 | 10:56 AM

PRINCE GEORGE – It’s the subject of a webinar this week put on by the Alzheimer Society of BC.

The way music and the brain are connected is complex, but research reported by Chelsea Mackinnon and her team say making, playing, and listening to more music could actually decrease the risk of developing Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia.

The webinar which will be happening on June 6th is still open for registration online through the Alzheimer Society of BC’s website.

Guest speaker Chelsea Mackinnon will be putting on the session, a cause she is very passionate about from her work in Ontario.

An instructor at McMaster University, she educates students, healthcare providers, and family members about how they can use music within their own caring practices.

Anyone in BC is eligible to participate, this is one of a number of sessions geared for those with Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia.
