BC servers receive a significant minimum wage increase

PRINCE GEORGE – Minimum wage increased on June 1, 2021, to $15.20. That is a 5.4% increase from $14.60.

Liquor servers received a significant $1.25 pay bump as well. The hourly rate for servers is now on par with general minimum wage employees. For years, servers have been making less than the minimum rate in BC.

Liquor servers are anyone who servers food or drink or both, someone who regularly servers alcohol, or someone who regularly works at an establishment with a liquor license.

This year has been particularly difficult for the restaurant industry. Provincial Health Orders have forced the closure of my restaurants or had them operate at half capacity. All negatively affecting the amount of tips servers make.

Resident caretakers also received and Live-in camp leaders also received a minimum wage increase.
