NITRO Motorsports Park welcomes back more spectators

PRINCE GEORGE–Drivers start your engines because the NITRO Motorsports Park is starting to get back to full operation.

“It’s very exciting for us, it allows us to reach out to other people” said Andy Closkey, President of NITRO Motorsports Park

On Saturday, the park began to allow up to 50 spectators, not including participants, to come out and watch their favorite drivers race along the quarter mile track. It was something that Jeff Lefebvre and his family of racers have been looking forward to since last year.

“Super happy to be back here racing with the family. I got daughters that are racing as well. It’s just awesome to be out here out here as a family event too.” said Lefebvre

Motorcycle, car, and even juniors racers came out to burn some rubber. Some from as far from the Okanagan region. The first half of the day was dedicated to practice runs, then drivers were placed in an elimination ladder where they spent the second half of the day racing.

“It gives people something to do, I feel like people are looking for this kind of stuff. These kind of activities, it’s a good family place to be, you can enjoy the racing and hangout with your kids.” said Closkey.

It was a scorching weekend and drivers were expecting to head to the racetrack in Mission, but with higher temperatures out in the lower mainland, they came to Prince George. Which was still a plus for drivers.

“Although it is a little bit warm, everybody is staying hydrated and as cool as possible. This weather is great for race cars which is all about the starting line down there and traction and you’re gonna see some pretty cool stuff.” said Closkey.

The park is planning to be open through the end of August with events every weekend. Including a car meet.
