59 new cases of COVID-19 in B.C., including 2 in the Northern Health region

VICTORIA — The provincial government announced 59 new cases of COVID-19 today in British Columbia, including two in northern B.C.

Active cases of the virus are up slightly to 649. Of the active cases, 74 people are in hospital, 19 of whom are in intensive care. A total of 147,915 people have been diagnosed with the virus in B.C. and 145,491 people who tested positive have recovered.

Here’s the regional breakdown:

  • Vancouver Coastal Health: 10 (236. active cases)
  • Fraser Health: 21 (175 active cases)
  • Island Health: 7 (22 active cases)
  • Interior Health: 19 (175 active cases)
  • Northern Health: 2 (30 active cases)
  • No new cases of people who reside outside of Canada (11 active cases)
