Evacuation order rescinded for Camsell Lake

The Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako, in conjunction with Yekooche First Nation, Tl’azt’en Nation, and B.C. Parks, rescinded an evacuation order for Fort. St James Rural on Saturday (July 17).

The areas where the evacuation order was rescinded includes:

  • the northern portion of Stuart Lake from Camsell Lake FSR to the northern point of Stuart Lake including a portion of Rubyrock Lake Provincial Park south to Babine Lake including Cunningham Lake,
  • Camsell Lake
  • Whitefish Lake including a portion of Sutherland River Park located in Electoral Area ‘C’ (Fort St. James Rural)
  • Nan-Tl’at 13
  • Ye Koos Lee 13
  • Ye Koo Che 3
  • Ucausley 16

Elsewhere, an evacuation alert was issued by the Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako, in conjunction with Yekooche First Nation, Tl’azt’en Nation, and B.C. Parks, for:

  • the northern portion of Stuart Lake from Camsell Lake FSR to the northern point of Stuart Lake including a portion of Rubyrock Lake Provincial Park south to Babine Lake including Cunningham Lake
  • Camsell Lake
  • Whitefish Lake including a portion of Sutherland River Park located in Electoral Area ‘C’ (Fort St. James Rural)

The Camsell Lake wildfire is measured at over 310 hectares. B.C. Wildfire Service said the suspected cause is lightning.

The Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako said on the event of an evacuation Oorder, a reception centre will be opened if required.
