PRINCE GEORGE – Members of the public got a chance to peek inside a facility that has been under construction for some time. It is the new student housing downtown. And the location was a conscious decision by the developer.

“This facility serves more than one institution so it kind of makes it easier to work with both [CNC and UNBC],” explains Tim McLennan, CEO with Faction Projects.

The suites are for one individual and have amenities such as an ensuite kitchen and bathroom. There are 205 suites, but there are also common areas, like study areas and a gymnasium. While there’s a bit of work to be done still but it will be ready for September when on-campus classes resume.

This is not Veda’s first housing project. And while the individual rooms are the growing trend, something else has been done with this project that is different.

“This project has 50 percent of the units as adaptable based on Prince George’s liveability standards,” explains McLennan. “It was just something the team wanted to do. And that’s new. It’s not something we’ve done before.”
