TORONTO – Canada’s only national charity providing flights and accommodations to those in financial need who must travel for medical care far from home – is proud to announce donations of $10,000 each from Coastal GasLink and LNG Canada, for a total of $20,000, to ensure patients in northern B.C. have access to vital medical services.

The funding will help patients from communities like Kitimat, Terrace, Smithers, Prince Rupert and Prince George reach medical treatment centres in Vancouver.

This joint commitment provides approximately 80 medical flights and accommodations for people in financial and medical need.

“Individuals and families in northern and rural communities can face challenges accessing specialized medical services and at LNG Canada we want to help by removing travel barriers they may encounter. We are proud to support Hope Air as they provide these vital services to residents of the north,” said Denita McKnight, Director of Corporate Affairs at LNG Canada.

Since 2013, Coastal GasLink and its parent company, TC Energy, have donated more than $100,000 to support patients across Canada.

“We recognize that these are challenging times for everyone, and access to critical health care services is more important than ever. Hope Air is providing a tremendous service to northern B.C. communities and we are proud to support their important work,” said Kiel Giddens, Public Affairs Manager, Coastal GasLink.

“Through this generous support, Hope Air patients in northern B.C. are able to access this vital link to medical treatments, specialists and equipment that aren’t offered in their home communities,” said Mark Rubinstein, CEO of Hope Air.

“The donation allows families to continue to live in their communities and not worry about reaching their vital medical appointments,” said Rubinstein.
