MVI closes Highway 16 at Lower Mud River Rd

PRINCE GEORGE —Update: RCMP say one person died in this morning’s crash. Cst. Jennifer Cooper confirming the deceased was the person riding the motorcycle.

Earlier: The highway has reopened says the RCMP.

Earlier: Police have reopened Highway 16 at Lower Mud River Road to one lane each direction.

“Please make sure you slow down while passing emergency service personnel and pay attention to the road. The Prince George RCMP ask that drivers pay attention to the road in front of them and resist the temptation to look at the incident while they are passing,” says Cst. Jennifer Cooper

Earlier: Motorists beware: a motor vehicle incident this morning at 9:30 a.m. has closed Highway 16 near Lower Mud River Road and the Petro Canada station.

RCMP say the incident has closed the highway in both directions. No word yet on what caused the crash or when the highway will reopen.

Cst. Jennifer Cooper says the crash involved two vehicles and one motorcycle. A detour is currently not available.

According to Drive BC, the estimated time of the highway reopening is 2 p.m.
