Planned ignitions for Tentfire Creek wildfire
PRINCE GEORGE — The BC Wildfire Service will undertake planned ignitions on the Tentfire Creek wildfire to remove unburned fuel in the fire’s path, thereby helping to limit the fire’s potential for growth and spread.
These ignitions are planned for tomorrow (July 30), but the exact timing will depend on weather and site conditions. Burning will only proceed if conditions are suitable.
Smoke will be visible from the community of Tumbler Ridge, Mast Road and the Murray FSR.
The objective for this burn is to reinforce equipment lines to the existing burn off from the fireguard on the eastern side of the fire. The planned ignition area is approximately 650 hectares, spanning a length of 4 kilometres to the west from 8.5 kilometres on the Mast Road.
