Evacuation orders and alerts continue to ease near Flat Lake wildfire

UPDATE: Evacuation alerts for Canoe Creek and Dog Creek, and Gang Ranch, were lifted.

EARLIER: 100 MILE HOUSE, B.C. — On Sunday (Aug. 8), the Cariboo Regional District partially lifted its evacuation alerts for the 108 Mile Ranch West and Flat Lake North areas.

The following areas in the Cariboo are still on evacuation alert

  • Flat Lake North
  • Flat Lake West
  • Flat Lake-Green Lake
  • Flat Lake South
  • 108 Mile Ranch West
  • Canoe Creek and Dog Creek
  • Gang Ranch
    (Cariboo Regional District).

Additionally, the Thompson-Nicola Regional District downgraded its evacuation order for properties within the vicinity of Gustafsen and Neilson Lakes to evacuation alert. Meaning residents may return home.

The Flat Lake wildfire is measured at 60,739 hectares.

On Saturday (Aug. 7), the Cariboo Regional District rescinded an evacuation alert and downgraded an evacuation order, while the District of 100 Mile House lifted its evacuation alert.
