PM Trudeau calls for an election, many are asking why now?

Beach says that Trudeau will most likely get the majority he’s looking for but there isn’t much room for error in this election.

“If the liberals do drop a few points it’s conceivable that they might not get their majority. The old saying that elections matter, in 2015 elections did matter. Trudeau was third in 2015 and if you would have predicted that he would end up on top in that election and got a majority government and would become the Prime Minister, that election mattered,” added Beach.

A full slate of candidates has yet to be announced for the two Prince George ridings, including no Liberals, yet.

“The other parties might not want to hear it but it probably doesn’t matter who the other candidates are, then again, elections do matter and you never know what might come up. It looks like Todd Doherty is once again going to cruise into re-election,” continued Beach.

This election is also unique as Justin Trudeau’s political path is shaping up to be much like his father’s, Pierre Trudeau.

“Will Justin repeat the success of his father? Two years in the minority, maybe learning some political lessons, and will he come back and get a majority government,” said Beach.

Voters will go to the polls on September 20, 2021.
