Act of vandalism cuts internet and TV service for some residents in PG

PRINCE GEORGE — Update: Telus says their team has encountered some new challenges since this last update, and are now expecting services will be fully restored in the early hours of this morning.

Earlier: Telus says an act of vandalism early this morning disrupted service to about 80 internet and 280 TV customers in Pineview.

Telus says vandals cut a Telus cable and note wireless services are not affected, which means customers can use their cell phones to stay connected and in the event of an emergency.

“Our team immediately began working to repair the cut and fully restore service to all of our customers. We anticipate service will be restored later this evening, and thank our customers for their patience and understanding,” says Lena Chen.

“Irresponsible acts of vandalism like this cause serious disruptions for our customers and in extreme cases, can put lives at risk by cutting off critical communications services. Having a reliable connection at home has become more important than ever before as the Covid-19 pandemic continues to evolve, and many of our customers work from a home office.”
