Election 2021: Dave Jeffers, Maverick Party candidate, Prince George-Peace River-Northern Rockies

PRINCE GEORGE – As the campaign continues in Prince George-Peace River-Northern Rockies, Dave Jeffers a candidate for the Maverick Party is part of the four-way race.

CKPG News spoke with Jeffers Friday afternoon getting his stance on key issues, and what his party is hoping to tackle.

Jeffers spoke about his opposition to mandatory COVID-19 vaccinations for Canadians saying everyone should have a choice on what goes into their body.

When asked about vaccine passports Jeffers said he and his party are opposed to the idea of having to prove your vaccination status to travel or do other activities citing the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

When asked if his party was a separatist party, Jeffers said that wasn’t the wording being used by his party however if constitutional reform is not completed, the Maverick Party will look at Western Canada becoming independent from the rest of Canada.

Key issues identified by the Maverick Party and Jeffers are equalization payments he says are unjust and unfair as he claims Western Canada pays the bills for Eastern Canada, something he wants to see changed.

Other candidates for the Prince George-Peace River-Northern Rockies Riding include incumbent Conservative Bob Zimmer, NDP candidate Cory Longley, and Liberal candidate Amir Alavi.
