Saik’uz First Nation declares COVID-19 outbreak, closes to all visitors
VANDERHOOF — Saik’uz First Nation Chief and Council announced Saturday (Aug. 28) afternoon that there is an ongoing COVID-19 outbreak at the main reservation of Saik’uz – also known as IR No. 1 – Stoney Creek.
The First Nation stated cases in the community have been confirmed to be the Delta variant. Residents are asked to remain home, limit their interactions with individuals who live outside their households, and to restrict their travel to essential only.
Saik’uz First Nation is now closed to all visitors.
“Vehicles passing through the community are not allowed to stop except under emergency circumstances. Saik’uz Security will be monitoring the situation and will report any non-community vehicles observed to be remaining in Saik’uz,” the First Nation states.
