O’Grady Road to be renamed

PRINCE GEORGE – At some point in the near future, the street name “O’Grady Road” will disappear from city maps.

That’s because Council has voted unanimously to rename the road at the request of the Lheidli T’enneh Chief, Dolleen Logan in July.

In her letter to Mayor and Council, Chief Logan noted that Bishop O’Grady’s name “is synonymous with crimes against indigenous children.”

However, the new name will not be known for a while yet, as the City, Mayor and Council and the Lheidli T’enneh have an opportunity to meet and discuss preferred names.
