PRINCE GEORGE – It was a fun-filled week at the CN Centre.

While the Prince George Cougars were putting on their annual hockey school, it also marked the first time many of the current Cougars have been back inside their home arena since their last home game back in March of 2020.

“I think it means everything to give back to the kids and show them we’re all nice guys and try to encourage them to come out to the games,” said Cougars’ forward Connor Bowie. “It’s as fun for us as it is for them.

“I love working with kids. I like working with young hockey players. My job back in Winnipeg is I’m a goalie coach so I work with a lot of young guys trying to become better. It’s really fun out there, trying to make someone’s day and make them better,” said Tyler Brennan.

And even just the opportunity to return to Prince George and the CN Centre was exciting for the players. Again, many haven’t been back to Prince George since that last home game back in March of 2020, such was the case for goalie Tyler Brennan.

“It’s good to be back. Seeing the town again, seeing the rink again was pretty exciting,” said Brennan. “It was good to finally just see Mr PG again driving into town.”

And even for that handful of players who call Prince George home, it’s good to be able to give back to the community through the School.

“It’s a lot of fun, actually. I know a lot of familiar faces, some of my own cousins are here so it’s nice to see them around and help them out, explained Cougars’ forward and Prince George product Fischer O’Brien.

The Hockey School also gave many of the Cougars players the chance to get back on the ice as the team looks to open up training camp next week with camp officially opening up on September the 9th.
